ACA 2012 Fall Enrollment Survey
Findings of note:
"The percent of camps reporting a higher enrollment than last year continued on an upward trend."
"Most directors felt that 2012 enrollments were better than 2011 enrollments..."
"No overall enrollment differences were found by camp type,sponsorship, or geographic region. Almost half the directors indicated summer 2012 was one of the best in the past five years..."

Study by The American Institutes For Research: Effects of Outdoor Education Programs for Children in California
“…Participation in outdoor school was associated with higher ratings of conflict resolution skills and cooperation (longer-term student assessments), and environmental behaviors (parent reports). Strong evidence of the benefits of outdoor school is seen in teachers’ ratings of students – students who attended the program received significantly higher ratings than children who did not participate in six of eight constructs: self-esteem, conflict resolution, relationship with peers, problem solving, motivation to learn, and behavior in class.Children who attended outdoor school significantly raised their science scores by 27 percent, as measured by a pre- and post-survey administered immediately upon their return to school….”

"Camper enrollment continued on an upward trend in 2013.
- 76 percent of camps reported that the overall enrollment at their camp was either the same as last year or higher.
- One out of three camps reported that 2013 summer enrollment was the highest in the last five years.
- 45 percent of camps reported enrollment was at 90–100 percent of actual capacity.
- One out of four camps that reported higher overall enrollments were higher by more than 10 percent compared to last year."
